The name Shell is linked to the Shell Transport and Trading Company. In 1833, the founder’s father, also Marcus Samuel, founded an import business to sell seashells to London collectors.
Royal Dutch Shell is the world’s largest private sector oil company by revenue, Europe’s largest energy group and a major player in the petrochemical industry.
Shell has five core businesses: exploration and production (the “upstream”), gas and power, refining and marketing, chemicals (the “downstream”), and trading and shipping. The company operates in more than 140 countries.

The company’s main business is the exploration for and the production, processing, transportation, and marketing of hydrocarbons (petroleum and natural gas). Shell also has a significant petrochemicals business (Shell Chemicals), and an embryonic renewable energy sector developing wind, hydrogen and solar power opportunities. Shell is incorporated in the UK with its corporate headquarters in The Hague, its tax residence is in Netherlands, and its primary listings on the London Stock Exchange and Euronext Amsterdam.

In Ukraine Shell is represented by network of 150 petrol stations, as well as by Shell Energy Ukraine LLC., dealing with gas supplies to Ukraine. Shell is ready to bring Ukraine new technologies and experts.

Every year Shell offer a number of grants to support students in achieving their personal goals and ambitions.
There are a whole host of activities you could do with the support of Shell. There are no strings attached, you simply need to come back and tell us about your experiences. You might try, for example:
Planning an expedition
Learning a new language
Volunteering on a community project
Getting involved in a not-for-profit programme.

Depending on business area, location and role, every employer could have the opportunity to experience one or more of the following:
On-the-job learning – you can expect to move both sideways and upwards through the business, building on your skills as you go
Training for recognised professional qualifications – either through external organisations or Shell’s own extensive training services and facilities

Personal development programmes
Direction and support – from ‘buddy’ schemes, mentoring and regular appraisals with line managers.
In addition to these initiatives, Shell also has tailored training for all of new starters, including inductions and Shell Life. Shell Life is an interactive course for graduates designed to develop their leadership potential. The course helps participants reflect on their personal direction and the leadership, interpersonal effectiveness and business awareness qualities they’ll need if they’re going to have a successful career with Shell.

Key principles of Develop include:
1. We assess – develop – reassess
After assessing your skills, we provide you with insights into your strengths and development areas. You can then create an effective development plan with your supervisor.
2. We intertwine business objectives and development objectives
Business objectives cannot be separated from personal development objectives. We ensure this is recognised in your development plan, and you understand how your impact on the business will help it grow.
3. We know the strongest leaders use their strengths
You need insight into your strengths and development needs, and we’ll work with you to achieve the required functional, personal and leadership competences. We’ll also help you focus on exploring opportunities to increase your knowledge, skills and experience.
4. We recognise that learning happens most effectively in a challenging job
Job assignments and projects are one of the most powerful forms of development. Challenging ’stretch projects’ are included in graduate development plans – these require you to think and act differently. During your first three years, you’re likely to experience at least two different roles within Shell.
5. We expect individuals to be individually accountable for managing their development and career progression
While your supervisor and mentor will support and coach you, we achieve more together when you drive your own development and manage your career.

3 Routes to Shell
There are three alternative routes into Shell. Any one of these can lead to a permanent job offer.
To get started, simply complete online application form and attach your full resumé. The form is designed to highlight your qualities and strengths in key areas. At the same time, you’ll be asked to complete two Questionnaires: the first giving you an insight into life at Shell, the second allowing you to assess your personal style and aptitude.
If invited to an interview, you’ll be able to demonstrate your potential and discover whether Shell can help you achieve your career aspirations.
You may gain direct experience of Shell through one of the three routes:

Option A: Shell Recruitment Day
This eight-hour day includes exercises, presentations and a group discussion – enabling you to find out how well you cope in different business scenarios and assess your potential for business or technical leadership. It’s not a competition for jobs – simply chance for us to observe you in action.

Option B: Gourami Business Challenge
Gourami is a fictional country and is the setting for Shell’s interactive business challenge – held in a number of locations worldwide. Working with a team to develop and present a viable five-year business plan, you’ll gain an excellent understanding of our global activities and working culture.

Option C: Internship
Want to test and prove yourself over an extended period? An Internship will give you first-hand experience of Shell as an employer – and exposure to a range of real-life business projects. Along the way, you’ll benefit from detailed feedback on just how well you’re doing. Which means, in short, you’ll find out if you’ve got what it takes.
